Secluded just north of Stockholm and along the northern shore of Lake Ullna, Ullna Golf & Country Club is where Sven Tumba actualized his aspiration of crafting a divinely challenging golf course in the early 80s. Three decades later, golf icon Jack Nicklaus was charged with upgrading the exalted course. Both visionaries have together devised a design for Ullna that presents an extraordinary equilibrium, a waltz between softly shaped hillocks and omnipresent water streams. With the backdrop consisting of serene lake views and verdant landscapes, Ullna is a quintessential fusion of Swedish serenity and world-class golfing. The Ullna Golf Course, a top-ranked championship course bearing a seaside character, is the magnum opus of Sven Tumba which was inaugurated in 1981. Ever since the upgrade by Nicklaus Design, Ullna flaunts features like new subsurface, irrigation, finish, and entirely new tee areas, fairway landing zones, and greens. Yet, the original course layout has been maintained. Players can expect thrills set alongside the banks of Lake Ullna, marked most notably at the 4th hole, a short par-five that wraps around the lake. The 6th challenges players with a semi-island green, setting the scene for an absolutely immersive golfing experience. Commemorably, Ullna hosted the world amateur team championship for men, the sumptuous Eisenhower Trophy, in 1988 won by the Great Britain and Ireland team. After an adventurous day on the links, golfers can luxuriate in Ullna's exquisite clubhouse, home to one of Sweden's top-ranked golf restaurants. Head Chef Fredrik Granström has created a superb gastronomic experience to match the quality of Tumba's and Nicklaus' championship course.
